the president of Korea Baduk Federation
Hyo-seok Seo

We sincerely welcome all participants visiting Korea to represent your countries and VIPs who really love Baduk.

I am truly pleased to host the 17th KPMC this year. In particular, it is happy to see the Baduk players of the world gathering in one place with overcoming the COVID-19. This tournament is an opportunity to unite people from all over the world with different cultures and languages through Baduk.

Baduk has become a great leisure activity and the best mind sports to develop emotional stability and patience.

Likewise, it is popular as a global sport enjoyed by all kinds of people such as men, women, the older, and the younger around the world regardless of their languages and cultural differences beyond the frontier.

Amid the trend of Baduk globalization, the KPMC would be an important opportunity in the sense of promoting the capabilities of Korean Baduk and the excellence of Korean cultures to the world as well as providing a place for cultural exchanges and communication among people who love Baduk around the world.

During the timeframe, it would be a pleasure that all players, who participate in and honor the tournament despite a long journey, would have time to show their performance what they have honed so far and do their bests for each game. In addition, I wish we could promote friendship with each other and have long-lasting memories, and pray all players good luck.

Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Ki-jung Kang, the Mayor of Gwangju and all the officials who have made considerable efforts for this tournament and hope all of you would make precious memories.

Thank you very much.
