We are very pleased to host the 14th Korea Prime Minister Cup International Baduk Championship at Yeongwol-gun, where has a UNESCO World Heritage site, Jangneung and beautiful sceneries.

Baduk is a mind sport that requires high concentration, thinking and perseverance. I hope many of you can create an opportunity to take a leap forward through Baduk, which has to predict farther, recognize the situation and move accurately.

This year’s 14th Championship is a place where the best Baduk players compete against each other. Players from all over the world will be able to raise the status of Baduk by showing hight leveled games.

In addition, all the representatives who participated in this tournament are encouraged to show their best skills and to play fairly in the spirit of fair play. I hope it will be a festival for strengthening friendship with each other.

In modern times, the sphere of sports is gradually expanding. In particular, unlike traditional sports that mainly deal with physical activities, mind sports, which use the brain, the core of the central nervous system, and compete through careful strategy and psychological analysis, are growing into sports that pioneer new areas.

In recent years, Baduk, a traditional oriental mind sport, also has the good function of developing the brain, spreading social exchanges and enjoying healthy leisure.

Hello everyone. Congratulations on hosting the 14th Korea Prime Minister Cup International Baduk Championship. The Korea Prime Minster Cup International Baduk Championship, which started in Jeonju in 2006, has grown and developed over the years.

This year’s 14th event is the Baduk festival that most of the world’s Baduk people want to participate in. This may be due to the combination of high-level players representing various countries and various side events. As a person who loves Baduk, I feel very happy.

On the other hand, it has been playing the role of an “opportunity” to find outstanding Baduk players according to the title of International Baduk Championship.

Baduk, a leading sport in mind sports, is expanding its horizons not only in Asia but also in Europe and the Americas. Even if we look at the number of member states of the International Go Federation, 77 member countries are now joining and accelerating the Baduk globalization.

Advances in the AI Baduk program have created an environment that makes it easier to learn Baduk and improve your skills anywhere in the world.

We believe that it is not too long before the Baduk champions emerged from unexpected regions to advance Baduk’s globalization. I’m excited because the next Baduk Champion might be one of you.
