I appreciate all of you who came and participate in the 6th Korea Prime Minister Cup International Amateur Baduk Championship from 70 countries being held in Pohang-si in the season of ‘high sky and plump horses’.

I would like to extend my hearty welcome to Pohang-si, the earliest sunrising town in Korea and having led industrialization & modernization of Korea, to the distinguished guests, representatives and guest officials from all over the world.

If life is endless effort for completion, suppressing the limit of one’s ability and making good a deficiency, Baduk the highlight of oriental spirit is the same as life. There are lots of fights in Baduk because both players try hard to make more territory than the opponent and it leads to ‘death & life’ problems. In our lives we experience that life is also full of ups and downs like Baduk. That is why life is compared to a game of Baduk and we have to learn life through a game of Baduk.

Welcome again to the representatives and guest officials and please do your best in the tournament and make good memories here in Pohang-si.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to president Kun-ho Cho and the staff of Korea Amateur Baduk Association (KABA) for well-preparing this great event, and Pohang-si citizens for welcoming the representative players warmly.

Baduk is a typical mind sport and is the highlight of moral culture to make people open-minded, communicate and harmonize. That is why Baduk is sometimes called ‘hand talk’ because Baduk is also the purification of manners and morales. I hope that all the Baduk fans interact together and share a friendship through the tournament.

Baduk is often compared to life. There are attach & defense, compromise, waiting, accurate order of playes, consideration & respect for the opponent and so on in a game of Baduk. So I hope everyone lives an affluent life through Baduk.

Please do your best in the tournament, and enhance the prestige of your own and your countries. Hopefully this tournament will open new horizon for developing Baduk through strengthening the ties of friendship and of brotherhood. I think it is very meaningful that with the international representatives. the 6th Korea Prime Minister Cup International Amateur Baduk Championship is held in Pohang-si, the town of sunrise, and sincerely welcome all of the Baduk fans visiting Pohang-si.

Furthermore, I would like to say thanks to all the staffs of Korea Amateur Baduk Association and Pohan Baduk Association for their hard work to organize the tournament.

Dear Baduk representatives and guest officials.
Baduk is the best brain game made by mankind, and there are a profound of philosophy and wisdom of life inside Baduk. Not only Baduk is very useful for children to cultivate patience and improve concentration, but it is also very effective for the elderly to prevent dementia. It is a really good mind sport for everybody.

This 6th KPMC Tournament is the largest world amateur tournament and it plays an important role to develop and improve Baduk. I hope all the players do their best in the tournament and get the best results, and through Baduk exchange with world Baduk fans, build deep friendships and take this opportunity to improve their Baduk level.

Pohang-si is the earliest sunrising town in Korea, where POSCO, leading the steel industry, is located. It is also a famous sightseeing city with superb natural landscapes. I hope you make lots of good memories staying in this beautiful city.

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for attending the 6th Korea Prime Minister Cup International Amateur Baduk Championship in October the harvest season in Korea.

Especially, thank the mayor and the staffs of Pohang-si, the governor and the staffs of Gyeongsangbuk-do, and the members of Pohang-si and Gyeongsangbuk-do council for all of your support and interest in this tournament, and welcome the representatives and guest officials from 70 countries.

Baduk was said to be invented as an educational resource in ‘Yaosun’ dynasty in China to make clever kings, and played by ‘Zhuge Liang’ the best military strategist in China to make the best military plan. Baduk proves to be good for the development of children’s brain and young people’s wisdom, and preventing old people’s dementia.

Today there are the unique Pohang-si, unique POSCO and ‘you’ here. I hope this meeting is very helpful for you and you have a great time during the tournament period in Pohang-si.

I sincerely congratulate on the 6th Korea Prime Minister Cup International Amateur Baduk Championship for world amateur Baduk fans, being held in Pohang-si the mecca of Korea steel industry and a city of high-tech industries.

Since starting in Jeonju in 2006 the KPMC Baduk Championship has only six years of history. However, it has become the most preferred tournament among Baduk players. I think that is because of the high quality of representatives and various side events. As a Baduk player I feel really great about it.

Pohang-si the tournament venue was where the foundation stone of industrial modernization in Korea laid in the 1970s. Like ‘Youngil-man’s miracle’ I hope everyone achieves the est result in the tournament and fully enjoys your time in Pohang-si.

Finally I wish the tournament will be successful and help develop Baduk all over the world. I would like to thank all the staffs concerned for hard work.
